Top 5 Hot Tap Things We’re Excited About in 2016

So it’s 2016 already and we are majorly excited as it’s promising to be Hot Tap’s Best Year Ever (BYE). Why? Here’s just 5 of our favourite reasons why we’re All about 2016.

1: iPhone Apps

woodworks squidz app

This is the year that Hot Tap launches its first two iPhone apps – WoodWorks and Squidz. WoodWorks is part of our partnership with Centre for Stewardship at the Falkland Estate on the WoodWorks project, which supports 16-25 year olds who want to carve out their own careers in the woods. The WoodWorks app will provide a platform for young woods-based creatives, as well as a fun way to engage with and explore the woods. Follow us to hear how we’re integrating iBeacon technology and e-commerce APIs for a very different type of shopping experience, and be one of the first to download the new app for free.

Squidz will trial over the next few weeks allowing brands such as Isle of Skye Brewing Company, Glasgow Film Theatre, La La Land and somewhereto_ to reward their fans directly in return for social reach. We will be running a callout for testers and participants soon. Keep in touch – this is your chance to earn free beer and cinema tickets!

Both these apps are funded by Design in Action – huge thanks to the team there who really saw potential in our ideas.

2: Crowdfunding

We love nothing more than a good meaty crowdfunding campaign, and we’re starting the year with three really great projects. Last year we created content and strategy for Isle of Arran Community Initiative and Kilfinan Community Forest as part of our Pilot project with Highlands and Islands Enterprise, and delivered talks and workshops around the region, and produced a toolkit for community groups. Our work on the Pilot is not over yet. We will be announcing two new campaigns as  very soon, along with a very cool indie film project. Watch this space!

3: Live Streaming and Webinars

Ellen Tolsma and Paul Farley

We’re smack bang in the middle of a very fun contract with Cultural Enterprise Office, helping them to trial different ways of delivering their services to client enterprises. We’re live streaming and recording a package of events for them, as well as producing sets of promotional and support content, including infographics, video, meme, audio and interactive content. Follow CEO to stay up to date. Distro Bingo anyone?

4: Social Screen

Social Screen

2016 is the year that Social Screen launches! The new platform for indie film producers offers a pain-free way for film-makers to build up their audience, funding and sales all from their own website. We’re delighted to have won prestigious Scottish EDGE and Starter for 6 awards for Social Screen already, and are working with some excellent partners to make this new venture happen.

5: Digital Content Marketing

We’re getting pretty good at managing digital audiences for our clients. In 2015 we helped take the first Scottish Youth Film Festival from zero to hero, with over 300 tickets sold online, and a massive growth of audience on Twitter and Facebook, and worked with play space gurus Timberplay Scotland to show off their ground-breaking designs and top of the range play equipment – supporting them to win a coveted Nancy Ovens Award. Nice one, Timberplay Scotland!

In 2016 we will continue to work with our fabulous clients and we also have some space on our dance card for new ones. If this is the year that you’ve promised yourself that you’ll finally get on Instagram, sell on social, or crack that elusive global market, then please get in touch – we would love to help you with that.

So that’s our top 5. We hope you’ll be part of it. Happy new year from Team Hot Tap!
