Not Another Happy Ending to Close Edinburgh International Film Festival 2013

Glasgow-based rom-com Not Another Happy Ending has been announced as the closing film of this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival. The film is directed by John McKay (Crush, We’ll Take Manhattan), produced by Claire Mundell (Crying With Laughter, Weekend) of Synchronicity Films, co-produced by Wendy Griffin (Wasted) and written by David Solomons (The Great Ghost Rescue, Five Children and It). Hot Tap Media has been working on the project for over a year now as digital manager, and we are absolutely delighted by the announcement.

Described by Producer Claire Mundell as “Unashamedly upbeat, romantic and funny”, Not Another Happy Ending stars Karen Gillan as a blocked novelist who can only write when she’s miserable, and Stanley Weber as the publisher who sets about trying to get her writing again. Mundell says:

“We want audiences to be charmed and leave the cinema feeling great, so it’s fitting that our film will be a very happy finale to what will be an exceptional year at the Festival.”

Hot Tap Media has worked with Synchronicity Films on the project since late 2011, generating over 12million page impressions and over 20,000 unique users on their Twitter and Facebook profiles, running online competitions and contests, helping establish their website and blog, and raising over $22,000 for the film through a busy and popular IndieGoGo campaign. The film now has a solid and loyal community of fans who can’t wait to see the film. We really hope they like it!

Not Another Happy Ending premieres at EIFF on 30th June 2013. We’ll be live tweeting from the screening, where we hope that some of the stars of the film will be in attendance. You can follow the blog and sign up for updates at www.notanotherhappyending.com.
