somewhereto_ has teamed up with WoodWorks to provide workshops for 16-25 year olds in the Fife area, giving participants the chance to learn about woodland culture, engage in craft skills and turn creative ideas into practical skills. Participants can expect a day of woodland-based workshops focused on exploring the journey of raw material to product, where they will get the chance to immerse in and reconnect with the natural world, establish their own woods-based skills, and realise their potential by adding value to Scotland’s woodland resources.

We have a brand new opportunity for a passionate, creative individual to join Hot Tap as our somewhereto_ Project Manager in Edinburgh. somewhereto_ is a UK-wide Big Lottery Funded project that helps 16-25 year olds find free space to do what they love. It’s delivered in Edinburgh by Hot Tap Media, and we have transformed an empty office space in the centre of the city into a creative hub for young people. Argyle House is a fantastic building on Castle Terrace, which now includes a gallery space, theatre space and meeting room. We run this space in partnership with a sister organisation, Space Club, who also offer affordable studio and office style spaces to members.

15th Jan ShortCUTS Film Screening

We first ran ShortCUTS as a somewhereto_ project in 2012, creating six short films that impressed the crowds at a packed screening at Chambers East in Dundee. This year, ShortCUTS volunteer Claire Dufour took the reins and produced ShortCUTS through her own events company, By Ricochet, and has been working with groups of young people in the Coldside, Lochee and Maryfield areas who would not ordinarily have the chance to participate in filmmaking. We supported the project finding spaces for filming, and offering the young people digital Learning Badges for their CVs from somewhereto_.

Hot Tap Media, in association with somewhereto_, has launched a local Scottish shopping referral website to help people find and buy Christmas gifts from independent Scottish makers and shop local this Christmas. Indie Gifts is now live with a range of Scottish independent shops signed up. Shoppers can browse fashion, homewares, crafts, jewellery and more from local creators across Scotland including funky contemporary jewellery by Bonnie Bling, origami paper lighting creations by Misty Concepts, and of course ‘name a tree’ gifts from Kilfinan Community Forest.
